Norwegian Cruise Line has raised the price of its Ultimate
Beverage package to $89 per person, per day, a new high for the cruise
industry.
The increase is a 13% jump from the previous $79 price.
Including the 18% gratuity and beverage service charge, the
total cost of the package rises to $104.48, the first time the daily amount has
crossed the $100 threshold.
As recently as 2014, Norwegian charged $54 for the Ultimate
Beverage package, which includes all alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks that individually
cost $15 or less.
The cost of the Corks and Caps package, which is limited to
beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks, remains at $59.
At Carnival Cruise Line, the Cheers beverage package costs
$49.95 plus tax and 15% gratuity when purchased in advance, or $54.95 when
bought on the ship.
The cost of Royal Caribbean's Deluxe Beverage package varies
by ship and itinerary but generally can be pre-purchased for between $44 and
$52 per person, per day.
