The dominant spa operator at sea, OneSpaWorld, has secured
the spa concession on Virgin Voyages ships.
Bahamas-based OneSpa said it has an agreement to run the spa
and wellness offerings -- including fitness centers, yoga studios, massage treatments
and salon services -- on the first three Virgin Voyages vessels. The term of
the agreement is seven years.
OneSpa, formerly associated with Steiner Leisure Services,
offers health, fitness, beauty and wellness services onboard 164 cruise ships
and at 67 destination resorts.
In November, the company was spun off from Steiner, which
remains a massage training and spa products company owned by private equity
firm L. Catterton, which acquired Steiner in 2015.
OneSpaWorld will employ a 29-person staff on each Virgin
ship, mainly in the B-Complex-Gym, the Crow’s Nest outdoor yoga studio, and the
Redemption Spa and Dry Dock blowout bar.
The first Virgin ship, Scarlet Lady, is scheduled to launch
in the spring of 2020. The next two Virgin Voyages vessels are expected to launch in
2021 and 2022.
