Port Everglades said its recently finished Terminal 4 won recognition from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The terminal achieved certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

Environmental features of the building include recycled concrete and asphalt used in its construction; low water usage toilets and fixtures; and energy-efficient lighting, air conditioning and windows.

The terminal received a score of 43, with 40 minimum for reaching certification. Silver, gold and platinum levels of certification all required higher point totals.
