Explora Journeys plans to venture into river cruising, signing a letter of intent with Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard.
Explora will sail European rivers but did not share further details. The line said it plans to release information about ship design, delivery schedules and initial itineraries at a later date. Explora did say that it intends to open sales in 2027.
Owned by MSC Group, Explora is a relatively new ocean cruise line, sailing its first cruise in 2023. It currently has three ships in service, each with a capacity for 922 passengers.
Celebrity Cruises is another ocean line that will do European river cruising. Celebrity River Cruises will debut in August 2027 with two ships, the Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker.
