Premier confirms Houston plans

HOUSTON -- As expected, Premier Cruise Lines said it will become the second cruise line to sail out of Houston in May 2000. Bruce Nierenberg, the company's president and chief executive officer, said Premier will be the first line to call regularly on the Mexican colonial city of Veracruz.

The seven-day program will use Premier's 1,146-passenger IslandBreeze, which also will call on Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. Plans are under way to offer one- and two-day Houston land packages, he said, including hotel, rental car and admission to the city's attractions. Cruise-only tariffs will start at $650 per person, double.
