A head waiter on the Coral Princess was arrested on Monday in Los Angeles on allegations of sexually assaulting a female passenger, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The report said that the FBI boarded the Princess Cruises ship and took the employee into custody after receiving a complaint about an assault.

Princess confirmed that two days prior to the conclusion of the cruise, there was an allegation of sexual assault made by a passenger against a member of the ship’s crew. The line said that as soon as the allegation was brought to shipboard management’s attention, the FBI was contacted.

The line said the FBI had boarded the Coral Princess upon its return to the Port of Los Angeles to investigate.

Princess added that following the allegation, it had sealed off the area of the alleged assault and restricted the accused employee to his quarters with a security posting. Princess also said it provided medical and other assistance to the passenger.

The L.A. Times said the suspect was expected to appear on Tuesday before a U.S. District Court magistrate and would face formal charges.

The Coral Princess was on a 14-day Panama Canal sailing between Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles.
