LOS ANGELES -- Princess Cruises will, for the first time, position two ships in the Caribbean during the summer.

Princess' next Grand-class ship will debut in Fort Lauderdale May 17, 2004, with eastern and western Caribbean options.

Princess renamed the vessel the Caribbean Princess from the Crown Princess.

The Golden Princess, another of Princess' 2,700-passenger vessels, will be based in San Juan and offer southern Caribbean cruises.

Executive vice president Dean Brown pointed out the line is taking delivery of four ships in the next two years.

"It really gives us the opportunity to be committed [year-round] to the Caribbean," he said.
