Royal Caribbean International has canceled two Brilliance of the Seas cruises out of Sydney, reportedly due to a technical issue impacting the vessel, according to Cruise Industry News

The 22-year-old ship built was sailing in Australia on an 11-night South Pacific Islands itinerary. The cruise departed on March 19 but was cut short on March 22 due to the technical issue. The following five-day cruise to Tasmania on March 30 has also been canceled for the ship to undergo repairs, the publication reported.

Guests booked on the March 30 cruise will receive a full refund and a 50% future cruise credit toward any future sailing departing within one year.  Guests will be reimbursed for nonrefundable, prepurchased travel fees, including flight, hotel, train tickets or car rentals up to $250 per guest for domestic changes and up to $400 per guest for international changes.

Guests on the shortened March 19 cruise also will receive a 50% future cruise credit.

The ship is at the tail end of its Australia season. The Brilliance will reposition to Honolulu on April 12 before making its way to Vancouver in May to sail Alaska itineraries.
