Royal Caribbean cruises will not return to Haitian beach destination Labadee until at least the spring, a full year after the current pause on visits was initiated.
The company confirmed that it has now halted visits through April 2026, an extension of a pause that began this past April and had recently been extended through October. Royal Caribbean also halted Labadee calls for about six months in 2024. Haiti has been under a state of emergency since March 2024.
Royal Caribbean Group said it is communicating with guests directly about the change to itineraries.
At the same time that the cruise line pulled Labadee calls from itineraries last April, the United Nations' special representative to Haiti had indicated that gang activity was increasing and the country needed more aid, according to an Al Jazeera report at the time.
Each time Royal Caribbean has removed Labadee from itineraries, it has said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."
The cruise destination is about 126 miles from Port-au-Prince.
