The Ruby Princess was named on Thursday in Fort Lauderdale by reality TV couple Trista and Ryan Sutter of ABC’s "The Bachelorette."
The ship, the last of Princess’ Grand-class vessels, embarked on a two-day preview cruise for hundreds of passengers and media members after the ceremony. In a showcase of the romance theme, Princess held a mass renewal of vows for all couples.
The 3,080-passenger Ruby Princess has many of the amenities and features of the Crown and Emerald Princess, such as a piazza-style atrium featuring restaurants and street performers; Sabatini's Italian restaurant and the Crown Grill steak house; and The Sanctuary, an adults-only area.
The Ruby Princess returned to Port Everglades on Saturday to embark on its first seven-day sailing. During the ship’s inaugural season, it will operate seven-day sailings from Fort Lauderdale to the western Caribbean, calling in Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico; and the line’s private island in the Bahamas, Princess Cays.
In the spring, the ship will redeploy to Europe for 12-day sailings in the Mediterranean.
