Star Cruises, which owns 50% of Norwegian Cruise Line, confirmed that it has sold the Norwegian Dream and the Norwegian Majesty to Cyprus-based Louis Group for $218 million and $162 million, respectively.

Louis will charter the two ships back to NCL to complete their scheduled itineraries through November 2008 for the Dream and December 2009 for the Majesty.

The Dream is being used for Bermuda itineraries out of Boston and the Majesty sails Caribbean itineraries from Philadelphia and Charleston, S.C.

The two ships are NCL's only pre-Freestyle vessels. David Chua, president of Star Cruises, said that the sale would "speed up the optimization plan for the upgrade of our existing fleet" in Asia, the U.S. and Europe.
