Windstar Cruises' Star Seeker on Dec. 28 set sail on its maiden voyage, a transatlantic crossing from Malaga, Spain, to Miami for the ship's christening.
The Jan. 15 christening will feature Libby Anschutz, the daughter of Windstar owner Phil Anschutz, as godmother. The ship will then depart on a seven-night christening sailing to San Juan with calls in the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands.
The 224-guest Star Seeker is the first newbuild in Windstar's Star class, which includes the Star Breeze, Star Legend and Star Pride. Most of the Star Seeker's 112 suites feature either a private veranda or a floor-to-ceiling window.
There are several new suite categories on the Star Seeker, including two 548-square-foot Horizon Owner's suites with wraparound balconies. The 30 Infinity suites have floor-to-ceiling windows while the 10 Oceanview suites have a mosaic glass shower.
After sailing the Caribbean this winter, the Star Seeker will cruise Alaska this summer and East and Southeast Asia next fall and winter.
The Star Explorer, a sister ship to the Star Seeker, is scheduled to debut in December 2026.
