Seabourn cut the steel on its second purpose-built expedition ship, where construction commenced at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Italy.
The line's new president, Josh Leibowitz, joined a ceremony with shipyard directors virtually.
Leibowitz said in a statement that the milestone "underscores our commitment to the expedition travel category."
The 264-passenger ship, scheduled to launch in 2022, will follow its sister vessel, the Seabourn Venture, slated to launch in December 2021 due to shipyard delays related to Covid-19. The Venture was originally entering service in June 2021.
Both Venture-class ships will feature two custom-built submarines and 24 Zodiacs to be able to take all passengers guests on tour at once. Each ship will have 132 oceanfront cabins.
