NEW YORK -- Clients may be kings or queens of their own castles,
but now they can lord it over a French chateau, too, thanks to new
industry player the Cakewalk Company here.
The 9-month-old firm is hiring out an entire 15th century
chateau in Poitiers, including full staff, for weekends from May 1
through Sept. 30.
The Chateau de la Roche features five guest rooms with king-size
beds and en suite bath, bookable for groups at $5,350 total for two
nights, including a private, four-course dinner.
Each individual room also is available on a bed-and-breakfast
basis at $150 a night.
"The aim is to get a family or group of friends to perhaps take
the whole chateau for the weekend," said a Cakewalk
spokeswoman.
Travel agents can tack on a 15% commission fee to published
rates, she added.
Chateau de la Roche, built in 1410, can be reached from Paris by
high-speed train in one hour and 30 minutes.
