NEW YORK -- Destination management company Tumlare Corp. and
Icelandair are planning an early June launch of escortedeurope.com a Web site designed to enhance the
Escorted Europe With Icelandair (EEI) group travel program that
debuted in print format last fall.
The EEI Web site's Create-a-Group section will enable registered
agents to design and submit group itineraries to Tumlare for
pricing.
Consumers will be able to browse available group packages by
date or special interest and directly e-mail the agent selling a
group package.
Joseph Green, Tumlare's vice president of sales and marketing
for North America, based in Sudbury, Mass., said the site will
debut with about 50 group itineraries when it goes live June 1,
with a new EEI brochure to follow on June 15.
"Because Icelandair has wide service throughout Europe and it's
a small airline, you're able to do things like this," Green
said.
Jeanie Halyard, senior group coordinator for Departures, Winter
Park, Fla., has participated in several Create-a-Group programs
since Icelandair and Tumlare introduced the program in
November.
"It's just a way that we all can stay in business," Halyard
said. "Networking is what it is."
Halyard said she is now working on a Thanksgiving in Iceland
group. "It's so much easier to get the group to go if you have
participation from other agents," she said.
