Kenya launches 'Magical' campaign to lift image

LONDON -- The Kenya Tourist Board launched a campaign to increase the awareness of Kenya and strengthen its image as a travel destination worldwide.

The campaign will be built around the theme "Magical Kenya; Experience a different safari every day."

The tourist board will build marketing teams in Kenya and in targeted countries, create an advertising campaign, a Web site at and promotional materials, conduct market research and encourage the development of niche products that will complement the safari and coast experiences.

The campaign will target three "market clusters." North America (U.S. and Canada), U.K. (British Isles, Italy, Spain, Netherlands), and German (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland).

The North American portion of the campaign will be overseen by Jennifer Opondo, who recently was appointed as regional marketing manager. Opondo is the former marketing manager of the Kenya Tourist Board in Germany with 12 years experience marketing Kenya.
