LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The visitor count for Magic Springs &
Crystal Falls, a theme/water park in Hot Springs, Ark., topped
360,000 this year, setting a record despite an unusually warm
summer and a rainy June, said Ed Hart, president of Magic Springs
Development Co., the park's Louisville-based owner.
"We believe we can exceed 400,000 next year," Hart added.
The park closed for the 2000 season on Oct. 8.
Hart said a substantial reinvestment is planned for next season,
to include a major new ride and an expansion of the water park.
The company also may add some entertainment venues.
At press time, it was still fine-tuning its plans.
Maria Partlow, director of marketing for the company, said the
water park's operating hours will be extended on selected days in
2001, by opening the rides portion earlier in the spring (beginning
on weekends in April) and continuing the fall weekend hours through
mid-October.
The attraction welcomes motorcoach tours.
