MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. -- Forever Resorts, a Phoenix-based company that
owns and operates properties across the U.S., added the Mammoth
Cave Hotel to its roster.
Forever Resorts, which acquired the property in February, said
it is looking to boost business from travel agents.
"In the past, Mammoth Cave Hotel never targeted travel agents.
However, Forever Resorts has long been an advocate of travel agent
business," said Darla Cook, sales and marketing manager for the
company.
She said the property now is paying 10% commission on room
bookings.
The company also is courting retailers with a direct-mail
campaign and an e-mail newsletter agents can sign up for on the
Forever Resorts Web site.
Cook
said Forever Resorts is in the process of revamping its Web site,
which will feature an agent section. It's slated to debut in the
beginning of 2002.
In addition, Mammoth Cave Hotel will host its first fam trip
this spring.
Mammoth Cave is open year-round, with its highest occupancy
levels correlating with the summer and fall season of cave
visitors, according to Cook.
Forever Resorts also is sprucing up the property with
renovations to public areas.
"With the renovations and core modernization of the lobby and
front desk areas, the front desk staff has been able to devote more
time for personal service and guest interaction," Cook said.
Additional renovations are planned but have not been
finalized.
"Rest assured, we are always looking for ways to improve the
visitor's experience at the hotel," Cook said.
The property features 92 rooms with four types of accommodations
-- Heritage Trail rooms, Sunset Lodge rooms, Hotel Cottages and
Woodland Cottages. Nightly rates range from $35 to $75, double.
The property sits above the entrance to Mammoth Cave, which has
more than 350 miles of cavern corridors and 70 miles of trails.
