More suppliers add hurricane coverage to offerings

The list of suppliers offering hurricane coverage is a long one, and by no means complete.

The latest additions include:

" Casa de Campo, La Romana, Dominican Republic, offers a full refund plus a 5% credit toward a future stay if a hurricane watch or warning is issued within 48 hours of a clients stay or if their travel to the resort is interrupted by the same incidents. For more details, visit

" The Belize Tourist Board will activate an emergency Web site for information, status of properties and service providers in the event of an unplanned event that affects the country. The site address is

" Continental Airlines Vacations new hurricane policy covers vacation packages to Mexico, the Caribbean and Florida during the six-month storm period from June 1 through Nov. 30 and enables customers to reschedule their trips to their original destinations without penalty.

" Discovery Cruise Line, which operates cruises and vacation packages from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island, enacted a policy providing passengers the option to cancel or rebook their trip without penalty if a hurricane watch or warning is posted; in addition, if passengers wish to return from a vacation on Grand Bahama early, they can do so, providing space is available.
