National Airlines to launch daily service to Washington

LAS VEGAS -- National Airlines will introduce a daily nonstop, roundtrip flight serving Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport on Oct. 26.

The Las Vegas-based carrier was approved by the Department of Transportation to exceed the airport's 1,250-mile nonstop restriction, allowing for a red-eye flight that departs Las Vegas at 11:45 p.m. and arrives in Washington at 7:15 a.m.

The return flight departs Washington at 8:15 a.m. and arrives in Las Vegas at 10:25 a.m.

National will launch Las Vegas-Washington service Oct. 26. National is acquiring additional aircraft to expand the service starting Dec. 1.

The additional flight will depart from Las Vegas at 1 p.m. and arrive in Washington at 8:30 p.m.; the return flight will leave Washington at 8:15 a.m. and arrive in Las Vegas at 10:25 a.m.

The 14-day advance-purchase roundtrip coach fare for both flights is $348. Flights between DCA and either Los Angeles or San Francisco start at $388. Fares include the fuel surcharge.

National's 175-seat Boeing 757 jets include 22 first class seats. Meals are served.

National Vacations packaged two- and three-night air/ hotel plans at Harrah's, priced at $368 and $410, respectively, and at the Rio for $378 and $423.

Rates are per person, double, based on Sunday to Tuesday arrivals.

The airline's frequent flier program, National Comps, enables members to redeem points for free flights and standard rewards.

The program also grants hotel nights, show tickets, meals and other extras through an arrangement with Harrah's Total Rewards or Rio's Play Rio player programs.

Washington-area agents will receive a guaranteed round-trip ticket to Las Vegas for the first five bookings from Washington plus an additional free ticket for five more bookings.

A companion receives a reduced rate for positive space.

National Airlines offers travel agents a 10% commission with no cap.

National Vacations pays 12% commission on the total package price. The airline's Reduced Rate Ticket Program for agents and their companions issues positive space tickets for flights throughout its route system.
