NEW YORK -- Royal Olympic Cruises will launch the 840-passenger
Olympic Voyager on June 24. Through Nov. 18, the vessel will sail
on seven-day cruises in the eastern Mediterranean, roundtrip from
Piraeus with stops in Santorini, Greece; Alexandria (Cairo), Egypt;
Ashdod (Jerusalem), Israel; Rhodes, Greece; Istanbul and Kusadasi,
Turkey, and Mykonos, Greece.
The first of two sister ships to debut within the next two
years, Olympic Voyager travels at speeds as high as 27 knots,
making it the fastest cruise vessel in the region and one of the
fastest in the world, according to Royal Olympic Cruises' marketing
executive Cy Hopkins, based here.
"The ship's high speed not only permits visiting more ports of
call but leaves more time for shore excursions," said Hopkins.
Passengers have a choice of spacious staterooms or different
suite options -- Sky suites, Bay Window suites and junior
suites.
Prices per person, double occupancy, range from $2,150 for
inside staterooms to $4,950 for Sky suites.
Public spaces on board the six-deck vessel -- each deck is named
after a different Greek god -- include the Jade Spa, offering such
treatments as Turkish and mud baths, and the Cigar Club, offering
travelers a haven for reading, visiting with friends or enjoying a
fine cognac and cigars.
Additionally, there is a pool and recreational deck area, as
well as a Sky Bar and disco, a casino, a card room, shops and
boutiques.
The ship offers three dining areas, including the Seline
restaurant. Cooking classes and specialized menus also will be part
of the culinary fare.
The Olympic Voyager will be offering on-board enrichment
programs, with lectures in anthropology, archaeology, astronomy and
international politics.
Bookings received four months prior to departure offer clients
early-bookings savings of 25% to 40% off published rates; five
cabins or more booked on the same sailing offer clients a 35% to
50% discount and an agent commission of 15%.
