OCHO RIOS, Jamaica -- The sixth annual Ultra Awards were presented
at Sandals Ocho Rios Golf Resort.
The awards recognize Sandals' industry partners who demonstrate
excellence in sales performance and marketing innovation, according
to a Sandals spokesman.
Tour operators and wholesalers who contracted with Sandals
Resorts were eligible for the awards. The event was cosponsored by
Sandals Resorts and Travel Weekly.
Winners in the top yield performance category were MLT
Vacations for Sandals Montego Bay; Air Jamaica Vacations for
Sandals Royal Caribbean; Funjet for Sandals Inn, and Apple
Vacations for Sandals Dunn's River Golf Resort & Spa, Sandals
Negril Beach Resort & Spa and Beaches Negril.Travel Impressions won the award for top yield at Sandals Ocho
Rios Golf Resort and Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa,
and Sunburst Holidays took it for Sandals Antigua Resort &
Spa.
Gogo Worldwide Vacations won the award for Sandals St. Lucia
Golf Resort & Spa. Key Tours won it for Sandals Halcyon St.
Lucia. Nassau Paradise Island Experience took it for Sandals Royal
Bahamian Resort & Spa, and Globetrotters won for Beaches
Inn/Poinciana Beach Resort.
Winners in the category of top growth production (based on
largest dollar sales volume increase from 1997-1998 to 1998-1999)
were First Choice for the U.K. and Paradise Holidays for the
U.S.Leaders in the top suite seller category were Air Jamaica
Vacations for Sandals Montego Bay and Beaches Negril; MLT Vacations
for Sandals Royal Caribbean; Funjet Vacations for Sandals Dunn's
River, and Travel Impressions for Sandals Negril Beach Resort &
Spa.Gogo won for Sandals Antigua Resort & Spa, Beaches Turks
& Caicos Resort & Spa and Sandals St. Lucia Golf Resort
& Spa.
Certified Vacations won the award for Sandals Royal Bahamian
Resort & Spa.
The top group producer was Mike Boland of Maritz Travel.Top-producing tour operator in the U.S. was Apple Vacations.
Funjet Vacations came in second, followed by MLT Vacations.Kuoni Travel was the top operator in the U.K.British Airways Holidays came in second.
Air Canada Vacations was the top operator in Canada
Receiving the award for No. 1 producer for the sixth
consecutive year was Gogo.
