ATLANTA -- The Southeast Tourism Society will hold its fall meeting
Sept. 7 to 9 at the Marriott at Sawgrass Resort in Ponte Vedra
Beach, Fla., according to Bill Hardman, president and chief
executive officer.
The society markets and promotes travel from within the U.S. and
Canada to 10 southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Tennessee and Virginia.
The society may add another state this fall, Hardman said, but
declined to elaborate.
Its membership comprises convention and visitors bureaus,
chambers of commerce, hotels, festival organizers, attractions and
other travel-related organizations.
The society helps create cooperative marketing opportunities;
provides continuing education, such as how destination marketing
organizations can work with agents and tour operators, and monitors
protourism and antitourism legislation, encouraging its members to
take appropriate action.
