ANCHORAGE -- The Destination Specialist Alaska program, the Travel
Institute's (formerly ICTA) newest specialist course, has become
one of the organization's most popular courses in less than two
years.
And the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) hasn't let the
snow melt under its feet as it moves to promote the program to
agents.
When agents complete the course (for $79, although some
consortia have discounted prices), they can opt to be included in a
"find an Alaska specialist" search function on the ATIA's consumer
Web site at www.travelalaska.com.
The specialist program gives a detailed overview of Alaska, its
history and culture, and information on travel and cruising. It
also includes sales tips, complete with sample Alaska itineraries
and a list of regional information offices.
"It's one of the strongest programs we've had," said a
spokeswoman for the Travel Institute.
Any agent can sign up for the course. For more information,
