LAS VEGAS -- Warner Bros. brought the magic of the movies to the
Venetian Resort Hotel Casino here with the premiere of the WB Stage
16 restaurant.
Located near the property's replica of the Grand Canal, the
38,000-square-foot themed eatery seeks to re-create the atmosphere
of Hollywood's original studio lot with the Warner Music Bar, a
lounge that provides a view of the Strip; a retail area, and a
125-seat private screening room for parties, conventions and
presentations.
The centerpiece of the restaurant is the dining room, where the
sets of four Warner Bros. productions -- "Gold Diggers of 1933,"
"Casablanca," "Ocean's Eleven" and "Batman" -- have been re-created
with backdrops, stage sets and movable props.
Guests dining in the "Gold Diggers of 1933" section will find an
art deco setting complete with gold and black set pieces from the
musicals of the film's dance director, Busby Berkeley.
The dining area is flanked by 15-foot silver coins, which served
as the backdrop for the famous scene in the movie that featured
Ginger Rogers singing "We're in the Money," with clips of
Berkeley's classic choreography projected on two large overhead
screens.
The "Casablanca" portion of the dining room features two sets
from the 1943 film. Keyhole doorways and vaulted ceilings re-create
the decor of Rick's Cafe, which, of course, also includes the
famous bar and piano.
The classic Rat Pack film "Ocean's Eleven" brings back the
atmosphere of Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s, complete with
button-tufted restaurant booths.
Special visual and audio effects are on the menu for those who
wish to dine on the Gotham City set of "Batman." This particular
set served as the rooftop locale for the confrontation between
Batman and the Joker.
The restaurant, which is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, made
its debut in December and will celebrate its grand opening in
January.
