Lufthansa launched new nonstop service from San Jose, Calif., to Frankfurt July 1.
The carrier will operate the service five times a week year-round.
"San Jose is an emerging aviation market in the United States," Juergen Siebenrock, vice president, the Americas, Lufthansa Group, said in a statement.
The new service, the carrier's second in California after San Francisco, was designed to provide a link between the technological centers in Silicon Valley and Frankfurt, he said.
Service will be aboard the 298-seat Airbus A340-300, equipped with FlyNet broadband internet access.
Roundtrip rates start at $1,073.
