The NBA's Los Angeles Clippers and the Hawaii Tourism Authority announced a new partnership in December.
The relationship will promote tourism to Hawaii while also bringing the Clippers to the islands for a handful of events. The team will hold its 2017 training camp on the University of Hawaii campus. The camp will include a Fan Fest, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet and interact with players and coaches.
"The Clippers are one of the NBA's hottest teams with a growing fan base in Hawaii and across the Pacific, and the Hawaiian Islands is a favorite destination for travelers from Southern California," Leslie Dance, HTA vice president of marketing and product development, said in a release announcing the partnership. "It will be a very exciting week when the Clippers come to Hawaii for training camp next fall. Our residents, especially the kids, will enjoy the Fan Fest and seeing them play in person, and the experience will generate a lot of attention for Hawaii with Clippers fans around the world."
HTA's marketing partnership with the Clippers began Dec. 4 and continues through the rest of the team's 2016-2017 regular season. The partnership includes broadcast and online exposure with in-game promotions at the Clippers' home arena, Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The dates and details for the Fan Fest and training camp will be released at a later date.
