Work on a project to expand the Waikolohe Valley pool at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, is scheduled to begin this September.

Along with the pool improvements, Disney officials said the 21-acre west Oahu resort will also see two new quick-service restaurants added to its existing food and beverage outlets, and the property’s popular Starlit Hui show will be moved to a larger venue to accommodate more guests.

According to a July 26 Disney statement, the expansion is part of Aulani’s final buildout and is scheduled for completion in mid 2013, with more details about the expansion coming “at a later date.”

“Aulani has been exceptionally well received by our guests, and we are excited to add new amenities,” said Elliot Mills, Aulani’s vice president and general manager. “From its winding streams and interactive play features to its private snorkeling lagoon, our Waikolohe Valley pool area offers something to delight every member of the family, and we’re thrilled that soon there will be even more to enjoy.”

Aulani, which opened in late August of last year, will feature nearly 360 hotel rooms and just over 480 Disney Vacation Club timeshare villas when the final buildout is complete.
