The Kauai Shores, an Aqua hotel on the east coast of the Garden Isle, is home to a new beachfront restaurant: the Lava Lava Beach Club.

The 250-seat open-air eatery and bar welcomed its first diners earlier this month and is the second Lava Lava Beach Club restaurant in the Islands. The first opened at Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii in 2012.

“The location — right on the beach on Kauai’s Coconut Coast — is spectacular,” co-owner Eric von Platen Luder said in a statement. “Our team looked at several locations around Hawaii that had tremendous potential, and this one was perfect.”

Formerly the Kauai Sands Hotel, the Kauai Shores was rebranded by Aqua following a $10 million renovation completed in 2014.

Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Lava Lava Beach Club on Kauai will feature indoor-outdoor dining, enabling customers to lounge on couches and enjoy fire pits, live Hawaiian music and hula.

The restaurant menu will feature Lava Lava’s signature pineapple fried rice dish, Hukilau chowder, tuna burgers and a range of other favorites prepared with local ingredients and produce.
