A popular attraction on Maui, Iao Valley State Monument will be closed April 27-June 26, according to the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources.
The state monument will be undergoing improvements and upgrades during its closure, which includes raising the height of safety railings, installing anti-climb fencing and repainting the bridge rail.
"We understand the importance of Iao Valley to the community and visitors alike, and we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we complete these necessary improvements to malama [preserve] this special place," State Parks Maui district superintendent Michael Kahula said in a statement.
