Location and History
This restored neo-classical exterior and art-deco property, in a historic 1920s structure inspired by Chicago's Herald Tribune building, was once the headquarters of Grace Brothers Department Store. During World War II it was General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters for the U.S. Armed Forces.
Its heritage value and protection ensured that many elements were retained when Malaysia's Low Yat Group redeveloped the site in 1995 for its opening as the Grace Hotel in 1997.
