The 40th annual Tianguis Turistico will return next spring to Acapulco, its birthplace and the location for the first 36 years of the marketplace event.
The show was held in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit in 2012, Puebla in 2013 and Cancun-Riviera Maya this year.
Acapulco fell on hard times in the last few years due to crime and safety concerns.
Next year, the city’s tourism officials as well as representatives from the state of Guerrero plan to showcase a new and improved Acapulco.
The event will take place at the new Mundo Imperial, which includes a convention center and other facilities.
A new transport system known as ACABus will be unveiled in Downtown Acapulco.
And numerous resorts, attractions, restaurants and golf courses are upgrading and renovating.
“We hope with Tianguis 2015 new opportunities for the destination will open up in terms of tourism numbers, airlift and positive image perception,” said Arely Figueroa Serna, communications manager for the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office.
