Healing treatments with locally grown cacti. Moon ceremonies. A new adults-only, wellness-focused resort.

Anticipating Mexico's wellness tourism market to grow an estimated 5.6% annually over nearly a decade, per Grand View Research, a trio of properties in Baja California Sur is expanding its offerings or introducing new ones.

Acre Resort in the hills of Animas Bajas near San Jose del Cabo opened the Tranquilo Spa in late August, featuring four treatment cabins and a wet room for water-based rituals and body treatments. The spa at the 25-acre sanctuary plans to incorporate local herbs and products harvested from Acre's on-site orchard into its treatments, such as Nopal cacti in its Nopal Detox, a Mexican healing treatment.

The resort also has a pool surrounded by lush foliage, jogging and bike paths, pickleball courts, yoga in its mango orchards, sound healing, horseback riding and other activities.

Mailena will open its first adults-only wellness resort along the eastern coast of Baja California in Loreto in February. The 96-room boutique property designed by Mexico-based firm Brossin will feature a cenote-inspired wellness and longevity center offering personalized therapies, advanced health assessments and programming led by medical professionals.

The suites, casitas and penthouses will be designed to prioritize restorative sleep and recovery, while dining will draw on local ingredients and traditions of Baja California Sur.

Villa del Palmar, also in Loreto, now provides beachside full moon and new moon wellness ceremonies to encourage reflection and connection through guided Tibetan meditation, sound healing, mantra chanting, live music and copal cleansing rituals. The hotel also offers healing Swedish massages combined with the vibrations of singing bowls applied to key energy points throughout the body, while guests take in the rhythm of the waves on the Sea of Cortez.
