As travel moves forward into its new reality, Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya has resumed operations with a list of reimagined guest experiences that highlight the qualities we've come to covet during the time of Covid-19: nature, privacy, reconnecting with family and wellness.
With 590 acres to play with, the resort already has the bones to create experiences with social distancing in mind. Andaz Mayakoba is part of the Mayakoba master-planned community that also includes Rosewood Mayakoba, Fairmont Mayakoba and Banyan Tree Mayakoba.
The resort has unveiled a variety of wellness programs that rotate on a weekly calendar, including fitness classes, meditation and spa workshops. Some of the fitness classes include beach yoga and Pilates, stand-up paddleboarding, HIIT cardio and personal training sessions. These will be held on the beach, lawn or pool area and will operate at a limited capacity.
Nam Wellness & Spa has also moved its programs outside to adhere to new social distancing guidelines. These special spa programs include aromatherapy sessions where guests can mix their own scents, spa workshops on how to create spa products like body scrubs and face masks, and a series of treatments like reflexology or massages performed on the beach.
For guests who want to partake in activities beyond wellness, the resort has moved a variety of other programs outside, as well. Activities like guacamole making, tequila tasting, hammock making and embroidery have been moved outside. Furthermore, guests can take advantage of the resort's many bike trails, or an eco cruise along the mangrove canals that are on the resort grounds. Families will enjoy that the resort's Kimbo Kids Club has a host of activities that are held outside, as well, from Mayan drawings to sandcastle building and recycled arts and crafts.
But wellness extends far beyond programming. The resort has beefed up the wellness options in the F&B space with the introduction of a Vegan Bar. The new dining option includes seasonal snacks and dishes that are made with locally sourced ingredients, inspired by Mexican cuisine. Options include vegan kabobs; lettuce wraps with plantains and lentils; and a variety of fresh salads.
Like the majority of hotels and resorts both in Quintana Roo and across Mexico, Andaz Mayakoba has updated its safety procedures with Hyatt's Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment. This program appoints a dedicated Hygiene & Wellbeing Leader who oversees the new guidelines and protocols across the resort. Andaz Mayakoba is also making destination-specific changes, including relocating check-in to the beach, a bike rental station where bicycles are thoroughly disinfected between uses, digitized restaurant menus that work by QR code, among others.
