The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau (www.cancun.travel) is highlighting a number of attractions, excursions and offerings to entice visitors to leave the sand and surf, at least for a little while, this year. Among the most noteworthy:
• The 25th anniversary of Xcaret Park will be marked by the opening of Xenses Park on June 1. With an investment of more than $20 million, Xenses is slated to open to the public on June 1 and is expected to receive about 1,500 to 3,000 visitors per day. The new park will create sensorial, olfactory, auditory, and tactile experiences for its visitors through the combination of various aural elements and visual effects.
• The Cancun Wax Museum opened in January at La Isla Shopping Village in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The city’s first, it comprises 23 rooms displaying more than 100 characters from movies to sports and music figures, including a number of famous Mexicans.
• Oasis Hotels & Resorts is hosting its annual Oasis Jazz U festival on May 27 and 28. The event will feature a lineup of artists that includes Los Musicos de Jose, Tower of Power and Chaka Khan.
