InsightAcapulco is launching a series of targeted tourism initiatives in conjunction with the federal, state and municipal governments designed to revitalize the Pacific coast resort city.

Leading those initiatives will be two newly appointed tourism officials at the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office: Pedro Haces Sordo, president, and Carlos Ramirez Zamora, general director.

“We look forward to working with the team at the Acapulco DMO to promote global tourism to Acapulco, set attainable goals to bring international travelers to the destination and to continue to improve the tourism industry,” Haces said.

Haces currently serves as the general manager of Acapulco’s Hotel Elcano and is the president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Cos. of Acapulco.

Ramirez previously served on the Mexico Tourism Board and most recently was with the marketing division of the Ministry of Tourism.

One of the tourism initiatives includes renovations to Acapulco’s hotel product, including the recent upgrade of the 36-room Hotel Boca Chica, the ongoing redo of the Grand Hotel Acapulco & Convention Center, the $30 million renovation of one of the towers at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess property and the $20 million upgrade at the 263-room Las Brisas resort.

Other initiatives will be announced shortly.
