Sea Kayak Adventures is offering three- and four-day sea kayaking trips in Baja California's Sea of Cortes with a price tag of less than $1,000 per person.
The cost covers a two-night hotel stay in Loreto and two or three nights camping on secluded beaches in Loreto Bay National Marine Park, a sanctuary for blue-footed boobies, fin and blue whales, dolphins and sea lions.
Activities are led by naturalist guides. Weekly departures are scheduled from late October through April.
A second, softer option does not involve camping or kayaking: a three-day gray-whale-watching trip in February and March for $895 per person. Accommodations are in a Loreto hotel, and whale-watching is by motorized skiff.
