• The dome itself consists of 8,615 panes of pink glass, each weighing up to 300 pounds.
• The Adventuredome stays 72 degrees year round.
• A single-day attendance record of 41,182 was set on Nov. 25, 2005; visitor total passed the 50 million mark on Jan. 1, 2009.
• For the clown performances held in the Adventuredome, 24,000 balloons are used each year.
• The highest artificial-mountain peak in the park is 140 feet.
• The theme park originally opened under the name Grand Slam Canyon. The name was changed to the Adventuredome on May 1, 1998.
The Adventuredome at Circus Circus in Las Vegas turned 20 years old on Aug. 23. To commemorate the occasion, America's largest indoor theme park hosted a month of celebratory events and special events that culminated in a birthday party complete with gifts on Aug. 22 through 25.
The five-acre Adventuredome opened in 1993 with four major attractions — Canyon Blaster, Rim Runner, Hot Shots and Twist-N-Shout — and has since grown to accommodate 25 rides and attractions.
Canyon Blaster, the only indoor, double loop, double corkscrew roller coaster in the U.S., continues to be one of the most popular attractions at Adventuredome, but a number of other family-friendly, premium and junior rides have joined the scene over the years.
In December, El Loco, the park's newest roller coaster, will debut. This ride will feature four-person cars that send riders into a 180-degree turn before racing over the edge into a barrel roll. It will have 1,300 feet of track. It will take 75 seconds to complete the ride.
In addition to the dozens of rides on offer, the Adventuredome is home to several other featured attractions.
In the Xtreme Zone, guests test their adventurous side on a 40-foot rock wall or bounce to their hearts' content on a bungee trampoline.
An 18-hole miniature golf course called Pikes Pass and a miniature bowling alley known as Highway 66 appeal to visitors of all ages.
In addition, the arcade and midway games continue to be popular attractions in the Adventuredome, as are the complimentary circus acts, which are presented daily.
Fright Dome, the Adventuredome's Halloween alter ego, originally opened in 2003. This seasonal attraction, which draws thousands of fans annually, shows no signs of slowing down, either.
