Some big things are happening on the hospitality front in the Miami suburb of Coconut Grove. The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove has completed a yearlong redesign of its guestrooms, lobby, pool area and dining venues; meanwhile, a new hotel, the Mr. C Coconut Grove, will open later this spring.
The redesign at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, headed by Bill Rooney Studio, brings in elements of fine and modern art, a nod to the area's notoriety as a haven for artists. "We thoughtfully drew inspiration to reflect a legacy the Coconut Grove district has etched in history and embody what the community has become today," said Mark Ferland, the hotel's general manager.
The 115 redesigned guestrooms and suites, with April rates starting at $332 per night, now sport neutral-tone furniture, white linens and natural textures like teak, canvas and jute. The guestrooms feature local art and trendy gold accents. The lobby features leather-wrapped columns and pops of color inspired by peacock feathers in teal, green and purple. The pool area has also been refreshed to include reservable poolside cabanas. The new restaurant, Isabelle's Grill Room & Garden, features modern Latin-American fusion dishes, and the Commodore livens up evenings with a rotating cocktail menu and live music.

The 100-room, boutique Mr. C Coconut Grove is accepting reservations for later this spring, with guestrooms starting at $390 per night. The newbuild hotel, the first of the Mr. C brand to open in Florida, features interior design inspired by Italy's nautical style. Design elements include timber panelings; leather upholstered headboards and sofas in shades of blue and caramel; and white and pink linens throughout.
The hotel also features an onsite restaurant, Bellini Restaurant and Bar, on the top floor. The indoor and outdoor seating offer views of Biscayne Bay. Additionally, the rooftop features a pool and deck with private cabanas as well as a bar, fitness center and private spa suite with sauna, treatment room and relaxation area.
