The AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown is scheduled to open in early 2018 as a 144-room property in this town, home to the University of Florida.
"Gainesville is most often regarded as a college town, but it is evolving, and we believe the hotel product should follow suit," said general manager Robert Plutto. "When the AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown opens this winter, our ultimate goal is to bring guests an unrivaled level of comfort and sophistication and provide an unforgettable stay in the heart of Gainesville."
Consistent with AC Hotels' modern aesthetic, the AC Hotel Gainesville will include sleek furnishings, warm wood tones and local artwork. The rooftop will house a glassed-in fitness center as well as the AC Bar that will serve cocktails, local craft beers and tapas-style bites. The rooftop deck will have a smaller pool with spa jets and offer sweeping views of the UF campus. Those who don't have tickets to a Saturday football game will definitely hear it, as the property is walking distance from 92,000-seat Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka "The Swamp"), where the Florida Gators regularly play to overflow crowds.
The property will be part of the Standard at Gainesville, a newly constructed 10-story, multiuse complex that includes luxury student housing, shops and restaurants.
Rates start at $189.
