"Battlebots: Destruct-a-thon," a daily robot-combat competition inspired by the TV show, is extending its run in Las Vegas through September.

The theater show, hosted by Bil Dwyer and Steve Judkins, features live battles with robots that have been on the TV show as well as never-before-seen combat robots.

"We are thrilled to extend the 'Destruct-a-thon' run in Las Vegas, giving our passionate fans more of the fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat excitement and action they crave," said Edward "Trey" Roski, BattleBots co-founder and CEO. "We can't wait to bring even more destruction to the BattleBots Arena and show the world what our robots can do."

The 75-minute show, in an arena just east of the Horseshoe Las Vegas, consists of five or six one-on-one robot battles. Some robots weigh as much as 300 pounds and can extend more than 16 feet high. Among the weapons: spinning blades that can slice through steel and flame throwers that can shoot six feet into the air.

Shows are at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit battlebots.com.
