Construction on the Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark. Camelback Resort, a ski, snowboard and winter snowtubing destination in the Pocono Mountains, will open a ski-in/ski-out indoor waterpark hotel next year.

The 533,000-square-foot Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, to be located on 25 acres at the base of Camelback Mountain, is part of a $163 million development project, the largest capital improvement in the 50-year history of Camelback Resort.

Opening in March 2015, the eight-story, 453-room property will feature family-suite accommodations.

“The Poconos has always been a popular destination, but the landscape has changed and so has the audience segment,” said Arthur Berry III, co-owner of Camelback Resort. “What was once a sleepy honeymoon destination is now a destination … catering to both outdoor enthusiasts and families.”

Amenities will include several dining options, adult and kids’ spas, and 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and entertainment space. The 125,000-square foot Aquatopia, billed as the largest indoor waterpark in the Northeast, will feature six pools, including a wavepool, lazy river, and swim-up bar, as well as an indoor surfing simulator, 13 waterslides and an indoor watercoaster.

Aquatopia will also offer a 30,000-square-foot family entertainment center, complete with arcade, indoor ropes course, nine-hole mini-golf, laser tag arena, bowling and laser maze. (Hear more about the lodge and waterpark here or in the video below.)
