The Johnson Space Center in Houston was closed on Monday and will remain closed on Tuesday in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

The space center welcomes more than 800,000 visitors each year and is one of the top attractions in Houston. It is home to a museum that houses NASA artifacts and space-related exhibits.

The center is providing weather-related updates on Twitter. On Sunday, the center reported "heavy rain hammering us again. Avoid travel if at all possible."

And on Monday, it tweeted that "JSC is closed again tomorrow. Still in ride out with heavy rain falling. Local roads flooding quickly in downpour. 31 inches at JSC so far."
