Nov. 2 marks the reopening of the Ocean Course at the Hammock Beach Resort, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort located in Palm Coast, Fla., just south of St. Augustine. The course, one of two at the property, suffered significant damage when Hurricane Matthew pounded Florida's Atlantic coast in October 2016.
The course has received a complete restoration of its Jack Nicklaus design, and just two months prior to its reopening, it withstood a stern test from Hurricane Irma.
Each tee box, bunker and green has been reconstructed, and new forward tees have been added to each hole, allowing the par-72 course to play as short as 4,100 yards while retaining a challenging overall length of 7,201 yards from its back tees.
With both the Ocean Course and the Tom Watson-designed Conservatory Course fully playable, Hammock Beach is offering a daily program designed to introduce young players to the sport and to bring families together. The Family Fairways Program provides special rates for both adults and juniors, and complimentary club rentals for children from 3 p.m. until close.
Starting this fall, the resort is offering golfers a Just Golf package with rates beginning at $179 per person, per night. The package includes accommodations, one round per person on both courses (request tee times when booking package) and $20 daily breakfast credit per adult, per night. Pricing is based on a midweek, two-night stay with four people sharing a deluxe three-bedroom villa and do not include taxes and service fees.
