AMSTERDAM -- AmaWaterways introduced City Escapes, a river cruise collection that features extended time in cities along the Seine, Rhine and Danube rivers. The itineraries will be during November and December.

A key feature of the collection is spending 24 hours or longer in cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Strasbourg and Budapest, enabling passengers to enjoy iconic destinations without being rushed.

AmaWaterways CEO Catherine Powell noted that it created City Escapes at a time when the line has extended operations to nearly 11 months out of the year. Powell said focusing on longer city stays is suitable for November and December cruising, enabling guests to further explore cities when they are "not overrun with tourists."

The City Escapes itineraries have been adapted from other AmaWaterways cruises and will launch this year and expand in 2027, said the line.

For example, passengers on Seine cruises will have extended time in Paris, Rouen and Normandy. On Rhine sailings, guests will have extended time in Breisach, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Cologne and Amsterdam.

Each day will include locally led tours and free time to explore independently. Guests can choose one, the other or a mix that fits their style.

A menu of beer, wine and cocktails will be included in the fare.
