American Cruise Lines will reposition its 150-passenger paddlewheeler Queen of the Mississippi to the Pacific Northwest, where it will join the company’s 120-passenger Queen of the West.

The 3-year-old ship will be renamed.

ACL’s new 185-passenger riverboat America, launching in early 2016 on the Mississippi, will replace the Queen of the Mississippi.

The company said the move will allow it to accommodate high demand for U.S. river cruising in both regions.

The America’s water launch takes place this week in Salisbury, Md. Then the ship will undergo the completion of its upper decks and its final outfitting.
