Travel advisor platform Tern has launched agentic AI functionality to do some administrative tasks and save advisors time.
The AI assistant can read an advisor's inbox and flag what needs attention, build cruise proposals and draft messages to clients. Nothing will happen without an advisor's approval, Tern said.
For cruise proposals, an advisor can drop a quote or itinerary from any cruise line into Tern. Then, the agentic AI will build a complete proposal in seconds with the advisor's branding, said Grace Van Hollebeke, Tern's head of marketing.
Agentic AI also can review an itinerary before sending, looking for red flags or missing items, like a day without transfers or lodging gaps.
Communications can be personalized using Tern's agentic AI. It will write emails at the appropriate time (like birthdays or trip countdowns, Van Hollebeke said) with details from trip data.
"For years the answer to growth was to hire or outsource to someone," Tern CEO David Shull said. "We think that tradeoff is over. Advisors can now grow without hiring and spend their hours curating trips and driving new business."
Tern's agentic AI is live for all advisors. The price varies according to an advisor's usage tier.
Tern said its agentic solutions will be helpful for host agencies whose advisors have been sharing proprietary data and client information while using generative AI tools like ChatGPT -- a risky practice. Tern's AI uses data inside the secure platform only.
Van Hollebeke said the only information shared with the AI is what's needed to answer a question; sensitive personal details like payment information are never shared.
