Amadeus River Cruises will debut a new hybrid ship next year on the Rhine and Danube.
The 158-passenger Amadeus Aurea will enter service in May 2026 and run on a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Amadeus said the ship's engines will have high-performance filters that virtually eliminate air pollution and a heat-recovery system that repurposes thermal energy from the generator.
The ship will have 12 suites and 67 cabins with panoramic windows.
There will be dining at the Amadeus Lounge, Cafe Vienna and Panorama Restaurant. Guests can enjoy a beverage at the Lido Bar, situated on the sundeck by the heated outdoor pool.
Aurea itineraries range from eight to 15 days.
The Classical Rhine cruise takes guests from Basel to Amsterdam, where they will tour Koblenz, one of Germany's oldest towns; visit a vineyard and tour Amsterdam's canals. The Blue Danube itinerary will sail from Budapest to Nuremberg, where passengers can go on a food tour, attend a classical concert and enjoy wine tasting.
This spring, Amadeus will welcome the Amara to its fleet.
