Austrian river cruise operator Amadeus by Lueftner Cruises has introduced the 180-passenger Amadeus Silver in Europe.

The Amadeus Silver brings the company’s European river fleet size to 11. The Silver and the 152-passenger Amadeus Brilliant, launched in 2011, are being marketed to North American travelers.

The Amadeus Silver is the longest ship in the Amadeus fleet at 443 feet (the other Amadeus ships measure 361 feet each).

The ship’s 77 passenger cabins measure 172 square feet each and have French balconies with drop-down glass windows; the 12 suites are 258 square feet each and feature walk-out exterior balconies with seating areas.

The Amadeus Silver features Café Vienna, a traditional Austrian coffee shop serving Austrian specialties, and the River Terrace, an open-air lounge at the bow. Other public areas include a two-story fitness studio, a sundeck with a putting green, a salon, a private dining room and the main Panorama restaurant.

The Amadeus Silver was built at the De Hoop Lobith shipyard in the Netherlands.

Amadeus Cruises is privately owned and operated by the Lueftner family. The company offers cruises along Europe’s major inland waterways, including the Danube, Rheine, Main, Rhone and Saone rivers and the Dutch and Belgian waterways.

The Amadeus Silver will be sailing itineraries ranging from four to 15 days along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers.

Amadeus is working with sales representation, reservation and consultancy service Optriant, a company that represents cruise lines, destination management companies, tourism boards and airlines. Optriant has been charged with enhancing Amadeus’ North American sales efforts.
