Pam Hoffee
Avalon Waterways has promoted Pam Hoffee to managing
director, and she will also serve as chief operating officer of the Globus
family of brands.
Hoffee was named Avalon's chief product and operations
officer in November 2016, at the same time that Terri Burke was named managing
director. Their appointments came after Avalon's former managing director,
Patrick Clark, announced he was retiring.
Hoffee being named to her latest role comes in the wake of
Burke's decision to retire as managing director of Avalon for personal reasons.
Hoffee has led product and operations for the Globus family
of brands for the past 15 years, including having overseen Southeast Asia
operations for Avalon Waterways.
Hoffee said that having dual roles at Avalon and at parent
company Globus makes sense as the intermingling of the brands continues to
intensify. For instance, she said that Avalon has seen a 40% increase in
passengers that book Monograms packages before or after their river cruises.
She said there are plans for the Avalon brand. And while she
said it was too soon to give anything away, she hinted at a further evolution
of the Avalon Fresh dining program, a new ship for 2019, additional
itineraries, some new technology developments and more culturally immersive
experiences.
In her new position, Hoffee plans to take a more active role
in agent relationships and sales, a part of the business she said she is eager
to learn more about and engage more with.
